LES announces World Intellectual Property Day celebratory events

The Licensing Executives Society, a professional society made up of members associated with the transfer, use, marketing and development of intellectual property, recently announced a series of events set to raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property.

The events are being held on and around April 26, which has been designated World Intellectual Property Day. According to the organization, a coordinated series of meetings and events, entitled Around the World with LES, will be held across the globe.

LES has chapters in both the U.S. and Canada. According to the organization, approximately 30 chapters have announced that they will be hosting events in their areas. In addition, international affiliates are set to host events in a number of countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Korea, Spain and Australia.

Mike Lsinski, president of LES, said the "volatility" of the economy in many parts of the world has "intensified the world's reliance on innovation to spur economic growth." According to Lasinski, "LES uniquely reaches a wide spectrum of IP-interested professionals from across disciplines and industry sectors, making it the perfect host for this one-of-a-kind event."

The Around the World with LES events were first held in 2010. According to the company, the inaugural series was attended by hundreds of intellectual property professionals on five continents.
