West Linn, Oregon, December 9, 2010 - The people behind Decipher® – a technology for managing intellectual property – have announced a major push to help companies prepare to be more innovative and competitive for 2011 and beyond.
Decipher delivers critical tools to organize and leverage IP so that companies can extract maximum value from their internally created ideas and external relationships – including idea submissions; status reports; visualizations of how products, technologies and patents are related; commitments; and license management. The technology is being used worldwide by companies of every size, dramatically streamlining their IP processes and commercialization activities.
“IP and innovation are the main engines of growth everywhere in the world,” said Peter Ackerman, CEO of Innovation Asset Group, which makes Decipher. “But they’re not being driven anywhere near to capacity by most organizations.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” said Marshall Phelps, one of the world’s leading thinkers in the field of strategic IP management. “Clarity of purpose around the creation of intellectual property and its exploitation, combined with tools and technologies to execute to it, will liberate a company to excel in this now-globally competitive marketplace of ideas.”
Phelps is widely credited with helping companies understand the profit potential of intellectual property, beginning with his well-known career at IBM, where he built their multi-billion dollar licensing program. More recently, he put Microsoft on the same path, serving as its Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.
“Decipher was created to drive more innovation productivity and help more companies succeed with their IP,” said Ackerman. “We really want to be a part of the movement that people like Marshall Phelps started. So between now and the end of the year, we are pushing to get this IP management technology into as many hands as possible.”
